WELCOME REMARKS BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF KWALI AREA COUNCIL, HON. DANLADI CHIYA, ON THE OCCASION OF A TOWN HALL MEETING ON SECURITY WITH THE HON. MINISTER AND STAKEHOLDERS, TUESDAY JANUARY 23RD 2024 AT KWALI TOWN HALL.

Ladies and Gentlemen

On behalf of the government and the good people of Kwali Area Council, I want to welcome our leader and mentor, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Chief, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON and his Team to Kwali- the Country-home of our great grandmother, grandmother and mother; the late Dr Ladi Kwali whose image currently adorns the Twenty Naira (N20) note.

Your Excellency, Sir, we must say that your visit today is remarkable as it is at a time insecurity is rearing its ugly head, but thank God that your approach to tackling it is not business as usual.

Honourable Minister, Sir, although insecurity is a global challenge, we believe that without peace and security, your visionary efforts in assisting President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to achieve the Renewed Hope Agenda would be difficult.

Therefore, it is vital to note that the quest for peace and security is a collective responsibility which is why the stakeholders of Kwali Area Council across the ten (10) political wards have gathered here today to hear you and to pledge our allegiance to the FCT Administration in order to ensure that FCT continues to become a safe place for all Nigerians, just as you did in Rivers State while you served as Governor.

Honorable Minister, Sir, I wish to call your attention on salient request that we believe can be of immense help to the security challenges we have beenfacing, and that is the fact that there are unmotorable roads that these bad elements are taking undue advantage of to torment our people. There is the Yebu-Kwaita road and the FCDA abandoned Shagari satellite quarters bypass roads; we plead that Your Excellency would come to our aide to see to the construction and completion of these projects so as to contain these bad elements.

Your Excellency, Sir, may I use this opportunity to appreciate you for the leadership you have shown so far in handling developing matters in the FCT and to remind you that the traditional stool in Kwali chiefdom is yet to be occupied after one year of the late Etsu.

Show more leadership in implementing the recommendations of the kingmakers as it will further enhance peace and security in the Area Council, please.

Mr Project, Sir, we look forward to inviting you to come and commission some of our projects like the combined 4.2 kilometers road projects recently completed, the NSCDC Divisional head quarters, some primary healthcare centres and soon-to-be-completed wing B secretariat complex which would be named after you, amongst others.

Honourable Minister, Sir, let me stop here and welcome you and your team once again to Kwali, the home of peace.
