President Muhammadu Buhari has officially inaugurated a large-scale integrated rice mill in Sheda, Kwali Area Council, Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The purpose of this mill is to enhance local consumption and facilitate rice exports. The mill, a collaboration between the Federal Government and Ocean Glory Commodities Limited, boasts a production capacity of four tonnes per hour. President Buhari, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mohammed Abubakar, highlighted that nine additional large-scale integrated rice mills are nearing completion and will soon be commissioned nationwide.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding domestic rice production and achieving self-sufficiency in the country through various agricultural initiatives. President Buhari also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s capacity and resources to maintain food security and stressed the importance of efficient operations, customer service, and maintenance culture in the functioning of the mills. Peter Cole Chiori, the GMD/CEO of Ocean Glory, acknowledged the government’s support, which has enabled their company to contribute significantly to the Nigerian economy by producing high-quality local products and creating employment opportunities.
