The Director General of Legal Aid Council Mr. Aliyu Bagudu Abubakar has expressed the willingness of the Legal Aid Council (LAC) to open an Office in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He made this declaration when he paid a working visit to the Secretariat of the Area Council weeks ago.
Mr. Aliyu B. Abubakar was received by the Secretary of Kwali Area Council with other functionaries of the Area Council on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Danladi Chiya.
The Director General LAC informed the Council Chairman that he is leading a team of LAC management staff and members of Federal Justice Sector Reform Coordinating Committee (FJSRCC) to seek cooperation with Kwali Area Council on how the residents of the Council can access justice at no cost to them and equally benefit from the services of LAC which it renders free of charge.
Mr. Aliyu B. Abubakar enlightened the Council members on Police Duty Solicitor Scheme (PDSS) designed to assist any person that interface with the Police in all Police formation across Nigeria being implemented by LAC. He said LAC is desirous of extending this service to Kwali Area Council. He therefore solicited for cooperation of the Area Council.
The Secretary of Kwali Area Council expressed the readiness of the Area Council to receive the services of LAC by providing office accommodation and any other assistance within its means.
