CHIYA’S ACCELERATING INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN KWALI AREA COUNCIL.

The residents of Ashara-Wako community in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, have expressed their appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for the construction of a bridge and embankment in their community.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Etsu Yaba, Alh. Abdullahi Adamu, praised the Federal Government for its timely intervention in addressing the issue of flooding and road demarcation through the construction of the bridge and embankment. He highlighted that previously, the road was impassable, and the only means of transportation was by canoe due to the complete collapse of the bridge.
Alh. Abdullahi Adamu also commended FCT Minister Mohammed Bello for forwarding their request to the Ecological Fund Office, which facilitated the execution of the project.
During the commissioning of the project, FCT Minister Mohammed Bello expressed his gratitude for being associated with the successful undertaking. He emphasized that during the inspection of the project’s first phase with the Permanent Secretary of the Ecological Fund Office, it was evident that extending the bridge and constructing the embankment were crucial for the project’s viability, leading to the initiation of the second phase.
The minister also pledged to construct a road connecting the community to the expressway. He praised the efforts of the contractor and consultant for their dedicated work in ensuring the timely completion of the project. Minister Bello urged the community to maintain the project by keeping the culverts free of debris.
Dr. Habiba Lawal, the Permanent Secretary, explained that the project’s first and second phases were part of the Federal Government’s ecological intervention projects for the first and second quarters of 2018. The projects were awarded separately by the Federal Executive Council in August and November 2018, respectively.
Dr. Lawal credited the timely completion of the project to the relentless efforts of the contractor and consultant, who worked diligently to adhere to the project’s implementation schedule. She also highlighted the close monitoring by the Ecological Fund Office. Dr. Lawal reiterated that the project aimed to enable the community to take ownership and maintain the infrastructure.
Notable attendees at the event included Etsu Kwali, Dr. Audu Shaban-Nizazo III; the Permanent Secretary of FCT, Sir Chineyeaka Ohaa; and the Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alh. Abdulrahaman Ajiya, among others.
