CHIYA’S ACCELERATING INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN KWALI AREA COUNCIL.
July 24, 2024
The administration of Kwali area council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has revealed its ambitious plan to construct a state-of-the-art trailer park at a cost of N13.7 billion.
The primary objective behind this project is to enhance the internally generated revenue of the council. The chairman of the council, Danladi Chiya, formalized this endeavor by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Best Petroleum Nigeria Limited, a reputable construction firm.
Located in Piri-Anini village along the Abuja-Lokoja highway, the trailer park aims to become one of the finest facilities in the north central region of Nigeria. Chiya, in a statement to journalists following the MoU signing ceremony, emphasized that the project would be developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. The park is envisioned to offer a range of amenities, including a restaurant, chapel, mosque, 2,000 shops, security posts manned by the Department of State Services (DSS), army, and police, a large filling station, recreational center, bank, plaza, clinic, administrative block, fire station, and even a 5-star hotel.
In addition to bolstering revenue for the council and the FCT administration, the ultra-modern trailer park is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 1,000 youth and women in the area. To oversee the successful implementation of this project, a nine-member committee has been established. The committee includes Dr. Nyizazo Naphtali Audi, the council director of works, Mr. Nnamdi Christian Anekwe, the chief executive/managing director of Best Petroleum Nigeria Limited, and Mr. Omokafe Jinadu, who will serve as the secretary and coordinator.
Furthermore, the committee comprises representatives from various organizations, such as the police force, DSS, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), fire service, Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Federal Ministry of Works, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), trailer drivers union, Federal Ministry of Information, and representatives of the FCT administration.
Mr. Nnamdi Christian Anekwe, the chief executive/managing director of Best Petroleum Nigeria Limited, expressed gratitude to the council chairman for entering into a partnership with his firm to undertake the construction of the modern trailer park in the area. He assured that the company would deliver high-quality work and stated that preparations were underway to begin clearing the site within the next two weeks, pending the completion of all necessary paperwork and documentation.
