CHIYA CHALLENGES FCT MINISTER TO PROJECTS INSPECTION, REQUESTS COMPLETION OF STALED STADIUM PROJECT.
…as Minister expresses pride in Chiya
…approves the construction of A2 Road.
Hon. Danladi Chiya, the Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council has challenged the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency; Chief, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON to projects inspection in the Area Council.
The Chairman did this during his welcome remarks at the official flag-off of the construction of the Pai-Gomani road project today, Tuesday October 29, 2024 which held at Pai Community.
Hon. Chiya said due to the non-interference of the Honourable Minister in FCT Area Councils’ monthly allocations, his administration has been able to embark on series of developmental projects, hence the inspection challenge.
“While I welcome Your Excellency, Sir, the FCT Minister, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, Mr Project and your entourage to Kwali Area Council again, today, for this project flag-off, I must, on behalf of the good people of the Area Council, express profound gratitude to you for the unique leadership you are showing in FCT, especially your vision for infrastructural development in the satellite towns and area councils.”
“The FCT Administration under your leadership has given us hope and assurance like never before, so we have no reason to fail on our part, because you are not tampering with our monthly allocations.”
“We must deliver and we are doing our best to ensure that our people enjoy dividends of democracy since we are connected to you, even as you are- to Mr President.”
“I have requested before now and Your Excellency may have seen our projects documentary being aired on Channels Television last week, which is just a tip of an iceberg”.
“I am pleading that would find time to come and see what we are doing in our domain to complement the good job the FCT Administration is doing under your leadership, please.”
The Chairman went on to request for the completion of the FCDA abandoned Mini Stadium project in the Area Council, stating that the stadium when completed will foster social development, thereby reducing youth restiveness and other social vices in the Council.
“Like Oliver Twist, permit me, Mr Minister, to make another request for the completion of the FCDA abandoned Mini Stadium project.”
“The uncompleted stadium is almost becoming a hide-out for bad elements and the youth wants it completed so it can afford them the prospect of being engaged, socially.”
“We intent to host a tournament in FCT and completing the stadium project would speed up the actualization of this vision.”
The Honourable Minister, while delivering his address commended the Chairman for challenging him to projects inspection, saying he did same.
“I feel proud when a council chairman says; Sir, I am challenging you to come and see what we are doing. Yes, it is not easy for a council chairman to say so; that is what it takes to be responsible.”
“In our time, we challenged the state government to come and see what we were doing and people saw what we did and up till today, it is there.”
Barrister Wike said he is giving approval for the construction of Pai-A2 road which bridges Pai Community to the express way.
“Of all the projects we have, this particular one is touching. When we were coming with Senator Mao in the car, we discovered that the road leading to this place where this road construction begins from needs attention too, but it was not awarded. How did that happen? How do you drive through an unconstructed road to go and commission this project when completed? No, this is unacceptable.”
“I have called the Chairman, House Committee on FCT and requested for contract virement for this Pai A2 road as emergency project.”
The Pai-Gomani road is the 4th project the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Wike has flagged-off in the Area Council this year.
