Council was “founded in 1996”
It is located in the south-western part of the Federal Capital Territory and lies between latitude 89 degrees south and longitude 78 degrees East. The Area Council has a total landmass of about 1,700 Square Kilometers. The Area Council is the country home of the Late Famous Dr. Ladi Kwali whose image adorn the twenty Naira Note. According to the 2006 census, the Area Council has about 85,837 population and the settlement pattern is disperse with the Ten(10) Geo – Political wards of Kwali Central, Yebu, Yangoji, Pai Ashara, Dafa, Kundu, Wako, Gumbo, and Kilankwa. The main ethnic groups include;
- the Gbari, Gbagyi, Abawa, Hausa, Bassa amongst a sprinkling of other minority ethnic groups.
